“The Eighth United States-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange was held in Washington May 26-28, 1976. Delegates and specialists representing the governments, academic communities, mass media, businesses, political communities, foundations and creative arts of the two countries reviewed the state of cultural and educational interchange since the last conference in Tokyo two years ago and agreed to a number of recommendations designed to deepen and widen mutual understanding.” (CULCON VIII, Joint Statement)
