CULCON XV
“The fifteenth United States-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange (CULCON) was held in Tokyo on March 13-14, 1991.The Conference was chaired by Mr. Shoichi Saba and Dr. John H. Makin, Chairmen of the Japanese and United States CULCON Panels. Members of the two panels attended the Conference. Foundation representatives and other observers from both countries also attended.
The Prime Minister of Japan and the President of the United States sent messages welcoming the CULCON conference.
Foreign Minister Taro Nakayama and Acting Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger also delivered statements underlying the significance of dialogue and interchange between Japan and the United States and expressed confidence in the positive role CULCON would play in this regard. ” (CULCON XV, Joint Statement)
